Wayne Rooney helped United reach the top of the league charts with a scintillating performance of FOUR (Yes! You read it right) goals against Hull City today. Rooney’s four-goal haul extends his lead in the Premier League’s top scorer stakes. He now has 19 league goals, four more than the next highest scorers, Darren Bent, Jermain Defoe and Didier Drogba, all with 14.

In the only Premier League fixture for the weekend, Manchester United today take on Phil Brown’s Hull City with a chance to go top of the table within their grasp. After the emotional roller-coaster that was the Manchester Derby, this is likely to be a more straightforward affair. In fact, this tie provides us with an ideal opportunity to get into some fine goal-scoring form before running into two highly critical games against Manchester City and Arsenal waiting for us around the corner. With our on-and-off form this season coupled with the financial turmoil brought on by the messengers of doom (the Glazers), the club is at a crossroads. For those who still do not know, Manchester United Supporters’ Trust organized a meeting before the Burnley game to discuss possible options on how to take the fight to the Glazers. United went back to winning ways (finally) with a 3-0 home win over Burnley that will definitely go some way towards numbing some of the pain that has been inflicted over United supporters over the past few weeks. However, if you think that this 3-0 win was one of those old fashioned cakewalks you need to think again. On any other day and against any other opposition we might have ended up conceding two before even registering our first goal.
