Liverpool

alex-ferguson_1509529cDear Sir Alex,

First of all, I am a big, big fan of yours. So much so that even if you direct me to kiss your feet, I would do it without any qualms. For years I have seen you build one unconquerable United side after another. I have seen you make astute buys, change games with a few choice words, make inspired substitutions and frustrate opposing managers with some impressive mind-games. However, this letter has not been written to worship your godliness, I bet you get loads of them everyday. This is about yesterday. After watching my beloved United go down meekly to Liverpool of all teams, I was left devastated. More importantly, I was left searching for answers. And who better to give me those than the one who holds all the cards? [Keep Reading…]

Cantona doing the famous pole-dance against Liverpool in 1995

Cantona doing the famous pole-dance against Liverpool in 1995

It would take a Neanderthal man living in a rock cave to not realize the importance of the Liverpool-Manchester United game on Sunday. To borrow an oft-used cliché, this is going to be massive. Liverpool’s worst start to a league campaign in 22 years has seen them lose 4 games on the trot. It has seen questions being asked of their once untouchable manager. It has lent credence to the belief that they are a two-man team. Liverpool enjoying a torrid run is surely good news for United right? Wrong. In fact, Liverpool could not have chosen a better time to pick a bone with their biggest rivals. Sure we can win it and kick-start a full blown crisis there. The taste of victory will be very sweet without a doubt. However, borrowing another cliché, an opposition is at its most dangerous when backed into the corner. Liverpool know that if they win today all will be forgotten, their league title bid will be back on track. Make no mistake, if United are not at their best, it is going to be a long day. Gary Neville is a red, he hates Scousers

Here’s a lowdown of what our players are saying ahead of the much anticipated clash on Sunday. A common theme seems to be a sort of determination to avoid complacency and rightly so. In matches like these, form becomes totally irrelevant. Expect a wounded Liverpool side to come out fighting. [Keep Reading…]

Michael-Owen-Signs-Manchester-United-Scarf_2325386In his autobiography, Steven Gerrard (Liverpool’s Captain Marvel who once wanted to leave the club for the roubles at Chelsea) has talked about his sordid life and Liverpool FC in general. Going through its pages is an excruciating ordeal. However, there is this interesting piece of information, or rather opinion, that I managed to notice. In the book, Gerrard talks about former Kop legend Michael Owen. He calls Owen ‘the best striker in the history of Liverpool FC’. He goes on to add that “Michael was as much a part of Liverpool as the Kop and the Shankly Gates”. There is hardly a more credible source that can back Owen’s claim as a Liverpool legend. He scored a mammoth 158 goals for the club, helping Liverpool win a number of matches single-handedly. [Keep Reading…]

John-O-Shea-Liverpool-Manchester-United-Premi_1191417It is that time of the year again. Manchester United lock horns with traditional rivals Liverpool on Sunday in a fixture that is looked forward to the most by any United fan. After suffering heart-break and agony over both ties against Liverpool last season, Manchester United would be looking forward to achieving some joy in the two fixtures this season. First up is the trip to Anfield and frankly speaking, Liverpool have never appeared weaker than they are now. However, as the saying goes, an opponent is at his most dangerous when backed into the corner. There is no place for complacency at all; we have to be at the top of our game to gain anything from the fixture. Our task has been made a lot more difficult by the news that two of our most crucial players this term in Wayne Rooney and Darren Fletcher are doubtful for this key clash. [Keep Reading…]

Patrice Evra and Chelsea

Our faithful left- back has come out in the open with a swipe at the Scousers claiming that away win to Chelsea is far more important than Anfield this season.

We all know that Evra has a colourful history when it comes to our  meeting with the Blues. In 2008 he was fined £15,000 and banned for four matches after he was caught up in an altercation with ground staff at Stamford Bridge and was also involved in a confrontation with Michael Ballack at this summer’s Community Shield. Coleen and the desire to see his first child being born may force Rooney to miss out on our Moscow trip. With Fergie’s squad due to fly to the Russian capital on Oct 19 before returning in the early hours of Oct 22, Rooney faces the prospect of being 1,600 miles from wife Coleen in [...]

Sir Alex Reckons Liverpool Is Our Real Derby

by professorkaka18.09.2009 News

Call it a psychological ploy or baring of the truth. Ahead of our much-hyped and much-anticipated match against local rivals City, Sir Alex has already started his now legendary mindgames. His assertion about Liverpool, and not City, being our major rivals is a well-thought out ploy to belittle the stature of City and in a [...]

Rival Watch

by Devils Advocate30.08.2009 Opinion

So nothing’s gone really bad for us so far. Nothing’s really exploded right into our faces, although we did come frightfully close to that against the Gunners.  The match did make something amply clear. If we are to be the champions this season, we would have to rely on our opponents dropping more points than [...]

Rafa knows a secret!

by Red Devil15.08.2009 News

If you want to see shit watch a Liverpool match, if you want to get beaten like shit meet Steven Gerrard at a downtown pub and do something to hurt his monstrous ego (don’t worry you won’t have to try hard), if you want to hear shit then listen to Rafa Benitez.
For a manager to [...]
